Salmon is more precious than gold.

These are the opening lines to the first video in a series of pieces that we collaborated on with TrueBlue Strategies, a Seattle-based digital agency working to build a better world.

Our video was shown to President Biden as an emotional appeal by the Southwestern Alaskan tribes to abandon the Pebble Mine project, a potential mining operation in Bristol Bay, Alaska, that would be catastrophic to the local ecosystem, indigenous cultures, and fishing tourism in the area. Bristol Bay salmon plays a huge and important role in all of the aforementioned aspects of life in the area.

An Important Victory

In a huge win for the cause, the Pebble mine was ultimately denied a critical permit, but the fight for permanent protections continues.

In addition to the Stop Pebble Mine campaign, we also helped create pieces for the 2021 UN Climate Conference (COP26) focused on saving salmon around the planet. These videos were accessed on smartphones by scanning QR codes through the salmon exhibit at the conference.

We feel incredibly fortunate for the continued opportunity to work with Trueblue to promote planet-saving and humanitarian initiatives. This is a big part of what we strive to represent at Road Not Taken Films, and look forward to being a strong partner in efforts to combat climate change and harmful human development.
